When Jake Paul entered the boxing world fans were shocked, but now it seems he is infiltrating ‘the beautiful game’ too.
Paul is a man of many interests, having made his name on social media, he then took his talents to boxing where he has put together a professional record of 5-0 (4 KO’s) and more recently he has turned his attention to football.
In April last year, towards the end of last season, as Liverpool came up against Manchester City in what at the time was a crucial game in the title race, which ended 2-2, Paul began tweeting in favour of ‘The Reds’.
Since then he has been an extremely active Liverpool fan on Twitter, even predicting that Liverpool would win the title this season, along with a dig at Arsenal, saying, “Disclaimer: Only thing I know w/ 100% certainty is Liverpool is betr than Arsenal.”
Rival fans to Liverpool, however, could not help but notice that since Paul started supporting Liverpool, they have not been in the best form, leading to speculation that he might be a curse.
They lost in the Champions League final at the end of last season and this year they have had a poor start, as they are currently tenth in the table with only two wins in their first seven Premier League games of the season.
‘The Reds’ have also lost two of their opening three Champions League games this season, suffering a particularly heavy 4-1 defeat to Napoli on the opening weekend.
Just last weekend, Paul predicted Liverpool would turn their poor start to the season around against Brighton, as he said on Twitter: “Today The Big Red Machine gets back on track. Liverpool dominates Brighton. Mark my words.”
Liverpool went on to draw 3-3 with a Brighton team who had just lost their manager…
Paul’s long-time social media rival and potential future boxing opponent, KSI, who is an avid Arsenal fan, believes the American is only showing interest in football to get under his skin.
“Ah yeah, bro, he’s a f***ing wasteman,” KSI told talkSPORT. “He’s a ‘Liverpool fan’, yeah.
“Basically he’s obsessed with me, he’s literally become a Liverpool fan just because I’m an Arsenal fan.
“He’s constantly saying, ‘Ah Liverpool are winning,’ and stuff like that like he gives a s***.
“He doesn’t care, it’s just to try and get at me.
“I know even after the fight, once I lay him out, he ain’t gonna give a s*** about Liverpool bro, he’s just gonna be hiding in his corner and I’m gonna be just abusing him for the rest of his life bro.”
In keeping with their rivalry, ahead of the Arsenal vs Liverpool match on Sunday afternoon, Paul has called out KSI, who is co-founder of the drinks company PRIME alongside Logan Paul, to bet on their respective teams.
“The world is a betr place when Liverpool wins and Mo Salah is doing what Mo Salah always been doing. Scoring,” Paul said on Twitter.
“Sunday at Arsenal is going to be a cracker. Maybe Logan and his junior partner in PRIME want to put on a little bet.”
At the time of writing, KSI is yet to respond to Paul, but with Arsenal coming off a derby day victory over Tottenham and flying at the top of the league, it could be a tough afternoon for Liverpool.
