On another night of Champions League action, Lionel Messi and Jude Bellingham some very impressive records.
Messi and Paris Saint-Germain were in action as the French champions drew 1-1 away against Portuguese giants Benfica.
The 35-year-old netted his side’s only goal in the match at the Estadio da Luz, firing home a curling shot following superb interplay with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
In doing so, he became the first player ever player to have scored against 40 different teams in the Champions League.
The PSG forward has been most prolific against Arsenal, scoring nine times against the north London side.
He is the second-top scorer in Champions League history with 126 goals, with only Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo (140) netting more.
The Argentinian’s goal also saw him become the first player to score in 18 successive editions of the Champions League.
Over in Spain, and England international Jude Bellingham also reached another landmark himself, having previously joined an exclusive list of teens with his Champions League goal record.
He scored four minutes before half-time and set up teammate Raphael Guerreiro for Dortmund’s opener in the 4-1 victory over Sevilla.
In doing so, Bellingham became the first midfielder in Champions League history to score in three consecutive appearances while still a teenager.
Bellingham also became the first English teenager to start a Champions League game as captain.
At 19 years and 98 days old, he also became the third-youngest player to captain a side in Europe’s elite competition behind Ruben Neves (18 years, 221 days) for Porto and Matthijs de Ligt (19 years, 51 days) for Ajax in 2018.
The 19-year-old midfielder continues reap the rewards, and is showing why Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid are keen to secure his services.
