Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal record
Cristiano Ronaldo, as you might imagine, has a ridiculous record, both goalscoring and otherwise, for Portugal.
He’s played 194 for times for his country, the highest number of international appearances by a European. He’s scored 118 international goals, a world record. He’s the only player in history to have scored in five World Cups and has scored more goals in the European Championships than anyone else.
He made his international debut for Portugal in 2003 and this is the 10th tournament he has taken part in, with Portugal winning the 2016 Euros despite him being forced off early on in the final because of an injury.
Ronaldo needs one more goal to equal Eusebio’s record of nine World Cup goals but he has never scored in the knockout rounds of the competition. If he’s going to do it tonight, he’ll have to do so from the bench.
