Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz have crossed paths three times on the official circuit. It is now a certainty that they will meet for a fourth time in 2023.
It will be on Sunday, March 5 at the 16,800-capacity MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, just before the two meet at Indian Wells, the first Masters 1000 on the calendar starting on March 8.
Dubbed ‘The Slam’, due to the fact that the two protagonists already know what it means to win a major, Nadal and Alcaraz will try to fill the iconic arena.
They are the two best tennis players on the planet, according to the ATP ranking. Tickets for the fratricidal duel go on sale this Friday, December 9.
The MGM Grand Garden has hosted a total of 41 UFC fights and is a venue that is also used as a concert hall. Madonna, Britney Spears, and Miley Cyrus, among others, have performed there.
It was Rafa himself, who is coming to the MGM Grand Garden for the first time, who announced the event in a week in which he starts his pre-season with an eye on the Australian Open (January 16-30).
Alcaraz, on the other hand, after overcoming a stomach bug, took his racquet for the first time in 32 days on Tuesday, last playing in the quarter-finals of the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000 against Holger Rune.
With his appearance in Las Vegas, Alcaraz will be playing three events in a row, as he will be in Rio de Janeiro and Acapulco before that. In fact, the final of the Mexican Open 500 is one day before the exhibition match in the desert.
